Monty's News & Dates Winter/Spring 2019

The highlights of the Fall... first time playing in Macau with a sold out concert at the 32nd Macau International Music Festival in mid October.

Then it was off to Europe for the Fall tour including a London Jazz Festival performance, sitting as a judge for the BBC Young Jazz Musicians competition, Prague and Paris for a rare piano solo concert (pictured above, La Seine Musicale), which was filmed and captured in all its beauty and excitement.

Monty Alexander Notes from the road...

From Macau to Jamaica where Monty received a Doctorate Honoris Causae (Doctor of Letters, DLitt) in November from the prestigious University of the West Indies in Kingston. Yes, the doctor is in! Dr. Monty Alexander that is... you can witness that special moment in the video clip.

On his trip to Jamaica to receive his honorary doctorate Monty visited his long time colleague and friend, legendary guitar master Ernest Ranglin--here they are in a candid shot from late October (left). Last but not least... there was the necessary dip in the Jamaica waters at Dunn's River Falls (right).
